Angles
In this introduction we will quickly review angles.
Angles are easy to use if you learn the basics about them. To measure an angle we look at how far a line has
travelled from a certain point.
Some angles have special names! Here they are:
When the line gets back to its start point that is 360 degrees.
Now, remembering the rules we have just gone through can you name the type of angles that have the following measurements?
Number of degrees | Type of angle | Reason |
30 | Acute | < (less than) 90 degrees |
60 | ||
120 | ||
170 | ||
90 | ||
270 | ||
45 |
Number of degrees | Type of angle | Reason |
30 | Acute | < (less than) 90 degrees |
60 | Acute | < (less than) 90 degrees |
120 | Obtuse | > (greater than) 90 degrees |
170 | Obtuse | > (greater than) 90 degrees |
90 | Right angle | = 90 degrees |
270 | Reflex | >(greater than) 180 degrees |
45 | Acute | < (less than) 90 degrees |
Well that is it for today. I hope this quick session refreshes your memory.
Next time we look at angles we will look at angles in triangles and other shapes.
Good luck!
