Numbers
We use ten digits in our normal number system. These are 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9. From these 10 numbers we can make every other number. These range from the very small 0.01 to the very large 2,345,567
Each one of these numbers is called a digit so a two digit number is 25 or 52
A three digit number could be 451 or 145
You will notice that we are using the same digits but the number are different. This is because the position of the digit is very important. The value of digit depends upon its position.200 is ten times bigger than 20 which is ten times bigger than 2
so 200 is (ten times ten) a hundred times bigger than 2
This is easy to see below

Here we have in the first row 4 hundreds 5 tens and 1 unit, this is larger than the second row when we have only 1 hundred 4 tens and 5 units
Many of these numbers are easy to say but bigger numbers can cause confusion
451 is written as four hundred and fifty one
1,451 is one thousand four hundred and fifty one
21,451 is twenty one thousand four hundred and fifty one
We treat the thousands the same way that we treat every other number as either a unit a ten or a hundred

They are just the same, they are either units, tens or hundreds
1,000,000 is 1 million (one)
21,000,000 is 21 million (Twenty one)
421,000,000 is 421 million (four hundred and twenty one)

Remember when you are writing numbers with lots of digits always start counting in from the right, after three digits put in the comma. 2,541and this will show you where the thousands start. Two thousand five hundred and forty one
If you can count another three digits you are into the

Four million five hundred and sixty two thousand five hundred and forty one
Note thousands after the first comma and the millions after the
second.
